Bangalore Smart City has bagged a special innovation award for its excellent use of information technology in the COVID-19 emergency management. The city which is considered as an IT powerhouse of India is well known for the adoption of the latest technologies and unique measures.

The city also came as a runner up in the category of providing internships to graduates in the industry thus getting smarter in its recognition of young talent as well. Bangalore received three stars at the national level in weather assessment.

This year, for the first time, the Centre has declared awards to states under the overall performance of the smart cities to mark six years of the Smart City Mission. The awards were announced by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri on Friday.
