commercial taxes department
, which contributes about 60% of the state’s tax revenue, achieved 61% of the target set for the current fiscal year. The department collected Rs 67,765 crore till Nov against the annual target of Rs 1.1 lakh crore.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday held a meeting with all revenue-earning departments to review their progress. He directed the officials to take strict measures such as enforcement, vigilance, and action against tax evaders to ensure that the targets are achieved.
Of the Rs 67,765 crore the commercial taxes department collected, the major share of Rs 52,428 crore came from GST, Rs 15,211 crore from sales tax on petrol and diesel, and Rs 971 crore from professional tax levied on the salaried class. The department collected Rs 93,122 cr
