The Bengaluru City Police, acting on a complaint filed by Subhash’s brother, registered an FIR against Nikita, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag, and uncle Sushil Singhania for abetment to suicide and other offences. A four-member police team travelled to Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, to serve summons at the Singhania residence. Circle Officer Ayush Srivastava stated, “Nikita Singhania to appear before the investigating officer at Marathahalli police station, Bengaluru, within three days for interrogation regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of her husband, Atul Subhash.”

However, when officers reached the family’s home, it was locked, and neighbours indicated the family had fled the area. Police Commissioner B. Dayananda assured, “A case has been registered already, and two teams have been formed. The investigation is ongoing, and we will ensure justice is delivered.”

As told to PTI, the Circle Officer (City) Ayush Srivastava, the Bengaluru City Police notice said, “Nikita Singhania to appear before the investigating officer at Marathahalli police station, Bengaluru, within three days for interrogation regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of her husband, Atul Subhash.”

The notice, addressed solely to Singhania, did not mention other accused family members, including her mother Nisha Singhania, uncle Sushil Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania despite their names being in the FIR.

At the time the notice was pasted, the main door of the house was locked and no family members were present.
