as the

guardian

of his youngest brother (55), who is

mentally challenged

, and also as the manager of his properties. It allowed him to let out a flat in a Khar (W) building to meet the brother’s daily upkeep and medical needs.
Justice Riyaz Chagla also considered the fact that the other next of kin, the eldest brother based in Ghana, appeared virtually and consented to the relief sought in the petition. In the Oct 16 order, he said, “It would be in the best interests of the ward that the petitioner is appointed as ….” He allowed the guardianship petition filed under the Guardians and Wards Act.
The petition stated that the youngest brother is unmarried. He suffers from severe retardation and was certified in 1998 by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, Bangalore. In
