railway underpass. After changing the original design, officials reworked the construction plan, which required acquisition of seven properties spread over 579.5sqm for the down ramp.
But faced with a financial burden of another Rs 40 crore, BBMP decided to go back to the original design. It has now reduced the length of the down ramp by 30m.
BBMP chief engineer (projects) Lokesh said: “According to the Indian Road Congress, we have a provision to change the percentage of gradient. Now within limits and as per the original design, we will construct the down ramp. We need another 30 days to complete the project. Monsoon is hindering work but we have set a target of 45 days to complete it. All civil works are starting now, rain is our only worry.”
